Logbook > English Summer!
Well what can i say, I started my logs by saying that i was looking forward to wearing summer shorts, t-shirts and sun cream, but no its back to the floatation suits and strong wind warnings... Whats going on?! Even though the weather has been poor, the fishing hasn't. We haven't often been able to push offshore, however when we have, it has been well worth it! The healthy sized Tope have come in their numbers and so have the Congers. The inshore marks have produced quality rays and again in good numbers, with the best fish at 23lb and some sessions making it well into double figers, one of the best so far landing 18 fish of which 14 weighed over 10lb.
The larger bream have drifted off now into deeper water, however there is still the odd one inshore but not in any numbers as such. Other species we have had recently include Brill, Plaice, Gurnard, Spur dogs, Huss, Pollock, some nice Bass, big Wrasse, Pout and of course the odd Doggy! The strangest fish i think has to be a 12lb Sting Ray being only the second one i've had onboard.
For the rest this month and continuing, we will still be targeting the Rays and Tope. The Bass will be the main target with the odd trip for a shark (I have seen one or two already and am keen to get out and have a go for one when or should i say if the weather gets better!)
See you on the water soon. Tom
