Logbook > Lad's Trip To Alderney - 19th April '07
Me and a few close mates, some of whom are members of the Lifeboat crew, went on a lad's midweek wrecky trip to Alderney. The fishing was slightly disappointing, however the beer was not!
We fished the wrecks on the way across the channel with very little success, which I put down to the very big spring tide at the time. Once we got to the Island, we fished the South banks off Alderney and caught Bass and Turbot. The best catch was an 8lb Turbot, caught by my good friend Gary who had never fished before (beginners luck or what!)
On the return trip, the wind freshened from the East so we had quite a bumpy steam home. In all, the experience was one to be remembered but more so because of the beer than the fishing (of course I didn’t drink…).
The targets for the next month will mainly be focused on the Bream and Rays. The Tope fishing should pick up once the Mackerel are here in numbers (which should be any time soon!).
Look forward to seeing you on the water.
